Fireplace

My husband inspired me to make this faux fireplace.  It was actually a joke for him.  He's always saying, "I wish we had a fireplace".  So, one day, I decided to make him one.  And, this is what he got!
I think it turned out super adorable!  We even got to hang our stockings by the chimney with care!  My daughter feeling the warmth of the flame!  Ahhh!

Popsicle snowmen

With all the supplies on hand, we decided to make these snowmen out of wide popsicle sticks.  I told them to paint part of the sticks white and then I drew a black line and told them to paint black above the line.  We painted one stick red and then I cut off the ends to make the rim of the hat.  We glued the sticks to cardstock.  I painted on the nose and the mouth was made from a round foam brush.  We added some embellishments to his hat and we were done.

Pilgrim Hats

My daughter had her Feast today at school.  She was super excited about this.  They had the whole kit and kaboodle--turkey, mashed potatoes/gravy, stuffing, beans, corn, etc...and of course lots of desserts too.
This cute turkey was a combination of all the 4K classes and what they were thankful for.  O said she was thankful for her sister.  That she is!
We decided to go with these cute Pilgrim hats for her feast.  They were fun and easy to make.  I just love them!
She was so excited to carry them into school.

Pinecone turkey

We had a few pinecones laying around, so we decided to do another timeless classic Thanksgiving craft.
They glued on the feathers and I used pipe cleaners for the head.
I know, I know, I really need to investigate more into what a turkey's waddle really looks like.  I suck at it, what can I say?
Anyway, I think they turned out really colorful and they add a nice touch to the window sill.  Kids are happy, that is all the matters!

Turkey puppet - a project gone wrong in more ways than one...

We decided to make turkey puppets today.  A project so easy and classic in time.  Everything started out good, then got bad.
They glued on the googly eyes, the beak, the feathers and the back of the feathers I just free handed.
Ok, here is where things went wrong.  1st, I had them glue on the wrong side of the paper bag.  The flap should of been in the front and not the back.  DUH!  My old age is catching up to me I guess.  Then I also free handed the waddle or beak or whatever it is called and as soon as I saw it on the turkey, I laughed out loud.  Is your mind in the gutter too?  Cause mine was.  Not the best shape I know.  At least they had no idea what was wrong.  As you can see in the last picture, I tried to fix it, but, I don't think it's any better.  Oh well, can I say he still looks cute?  LOL!

S's class Halloween party

 S. had her class Halloween party today.  She was super excited!  For her 3 teacher's we gave them dipped Oreo's in mint chocolate topped with sprinkles and then boxed them up.  The gift tags I saw on clearance at Michael's for .99 cents awhile ago.  I knew I would use them for something,

For her little friends I decided to make these BATS!  They were super easy to make. Aren't they cool?

When the BAT opens his wings......
voila, there is a surprise inside!!!

She was to bring her costume to school and the teacher would help change them.  They were going to carve pumpkins first and didn't want them all to get their costumes messy.
She never wears a headband or any hair piece for that matter.
The famous pout!

 Now she smiles!

Chalkboard rocks

This idea came from the Pottery Barn catalog.  Why pay for rocks when you can make your own.  I had some left over rocks from the beach this summer and I painted them with black chalkboard paint.  They are a nice little added touch and you can change the sayings anytime.
