S's class Halloween party

 S. had her class Halloween party today.  She was super excited!  For her 3 teacher's we gave them dipped Oreo's in mint chocolate topped with sprinkles and then boxed them up.  The gift tags I saw on clearance at Michael's for .99 cents awhile ago.  I knew I would use them for something,

For her little friends I decided to make these BATS!  They were super easy to make. Aren't they cool?

When the BAT opens his wings......
voila, there is a surprise inside!!!

She was to bring her costume to school and the teacher would help change them.  They were going to carve pumpkins first and didn't want them all to get their costumes messy.
She never wears a headband or any hair piece for that matter.
The famous pout!

 Now she smiles!

Chalkboard rocks

This idea came from the Pottery Barn catalog.  Why pay for rocks when you can make your own.  I had some left over rocks from the beach this summer and I painted them with black chalkboard paint.  They are a nice little added touch and you can change the sayings anytime.

Spooky OWL

When I first saw this I knew right away I had to make it!  I have this small thing for owls now and this one is spooky for Halloween.  It was super easy to make.  2 sheets of black construction paper folded accordian style and stapled together.  For the eyes I used a 1" and 2" circle punch and freehanded the beak and eyebrows.  (I think that is what they are; tee-hee!)  I used glue dots to attach the face pieces and hung from fish string.

Halloween Candy Buy Back program - helping our troops

I wanted to share this with you now, cause after Halloween would be too late.  We are participating in this event this year.  It is sponsored by dentists who will pay you $1/lb. for your Halloween candy or you can just donate too.  They send the candy to our military troops.  It is just another small way of saying THANK YOU for serving our country.  You can find info. here:  Halloween Candy Buy Back and Operation Gratitude.  You can also find them on facebook...Halloween Candy Buy Back and Operation Gratitude.

NEW blog design

YAY!!!  I am sooo super excited to have a NEW blog design!  I absolutely LOVE it!  I worked with a great designer named Carolyn.  She has a great blog too and who would of thought this came all the way from Graz, Austria.  She was awesome to work with and listened to all my crazy ideas.  Thank you again Carolyn!  I also have to give a shout out to P is for Party, that is where I found out about Carolyn.  So, I hope you all enjoy the NEW look of red & blonde tangles!

More Halloween silhouettes

I think I have a thing for silhouettes now.  I think I already did, but, never made any before.  I saw this cute idea over at UCreate.  You can find the templates at the pink peony of Le Jardin.  She also has a cat which is very cute, but, I'm not into cats.  Once again, this is a very inexpensive craft.  I just put scrapbook paper behind the cutout and the frames are once again from the Dollar Tree.  Enjoy!

Spooky silhouettes

I finally decided to use my vinyl that I have had forever.  Never used it before until now.  The little pumpkin guy I made too small, so, he went on my window.
I started off with 2 plates from the Dollar Tree - umm, $2 only.
I went with the black silhouette look.  I used my Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge.
I am lovin' the look of these!  What's nice, is now I have the plates and can decorate it again for other holidays.

Baking for our military troops

I first found out about Baking GALS last year.  It is a wonderful opportunity to help make the men and women who are serving overseas (and now, who are recovering at home) their time a little better by baking cookies.  A taste of home!  I  baked some sugar cookies with glaze frosting and also included 2 bags of candy.

.
 Some fangs...just for FUN!
I also added a felt BAT inside the box too.
BOO!
