Little House chalk slates

Here they took a break so they could write on their little slates like Laura used to do.  We didn't play school, but, that would of been fun.

Little House crafts

 We did these 2 crafts to go along with the Little House on the Prairie theme.  First was a log cabin made out of paper.  I cut the shapes and then they glued them on the paper.  That is supposed to be a candle in the window.  They also glued on pom poms for the smoke.  I found this inspiration on Pinterest.   Have I told you that I love Pinterest?  {love}

This next craft is supposed to be a patchwork quilt, like Ma made.  Although she stitched a quilt, we cut out paper squares and glued them onto paper to make our quilt.  The inspiration came from this party.  Check it out, it's a cute one!

Little House on the Prairie

 We started of this unit by checking out some books at the library.  I knew of the more longer chapter books, but, I had no idea they had My First Little House books.  This was perfect!  I also got a chapter book for younger kids.  It's the School Days one below.  As soon as we started reading the books, I went back in time to my youth.  I loved Little House on the Prairie.  Of course, I had to explain a lot about what they didn't have back then, that we have now.  

Shark craft #1

Here is shark craft #1 out of 2.  I searched Google Images for shark crafts and found two that were easy, cute and I already had the supplies on hand.  Yes, I know sharks are gray, but, would you believe I didn't have gray in my paint supply.  Crazy!  And yes I know, I could of mixed white and black to get gray, but, I wasn't thinking straight obviously.

The craft was really easy.  Take some clothespins and paint them.  Cut out fins (we used cardstock & added some sparkle) and glue on and add a googly eye and you are done.  Don't forget the teeth too.

Shark Week

My husband and I love shark week!  So, I thought I would incorporate a couple crafts for the kids.  

New puppy & FREE printables

 Both of my girls got these puppies yesterday from TRU.  They had some gift cards from their birthdays.  The other dog is all white.  They make dog noises; barking, panting, etc.  It is actually pretty cute and they walk in a circle and come back to you.  Well, wouldn't you know, I just happened to find these fabulous FREE printables to go along with the new puppies.  Hop on over to trillustrations and see the beautiful work that she does.  She also offers lots of FREE printables!
