Little House on the Prairie

The picture above, that I found on Pinterest (which is a post in and of itself) is what inspired this Little House on the Prairie learning unit.  You can find the above picture at The Crafty Crow.
I had scraps of square fabric, so, the clothes were actually miniature size.  But, they still worked out and were still cute!   There were pants, a shirt and 2 style dresses.  We also used the mini clothes pins.
I got these bonnets from my mom.  She had them in storage.  I think maybe I played with them as a kid, I don't remember.  She said she thought that my Grandma made them for some church event.  She was an excellent sewer!

I actually found this washboard at a local thrift store for $7.

They had a fun time doing this.  My 5 year old really got into.  She wore her bonnet all day and pretended she was a prairie girl.  When she was washing clothes, she kept saying, "darn stain, get out."
Next, they hung them on their clothesline.  I took 2 dowels that I had and strung twine between them.

This one loved to play in the water!

And that is the end of our Little House on the Prairie unit.

Body Tracing

 I decided to trace their bodies one day and let them color.  I had stuff to do and I figured it would keep them busy.  Somehow, I ended up helping out.
 I just used kraft paper and made them lay down on the paper and then I traced them with a pencil.  I then drew a shirt and a skirt for both of them and then they colored it in.

They added bracelets, a watch, fingernail polish, rings and a belt.
Once again, not the best photos.  They did color their arms and legs tan, so it is kinda hard to see.

Just a fun activity every kid should try!

Shark craft #2

This was the 2nd shark craft that we did for Shark Week.  It required 2 toilet paper tubes.  This time we mixed black paint and white paint to get the gray color.  (which I like a lot better!)  You can find the link here.

Back to school time!!! {notebook paper}

A friend of mine contacted me and said she was having a little back to school party for her daughter and some friends.  She had tote bags that looked like notebook paper.  (first time I had seen anything like it-super cute!)  She had asked for some suggestions as to what to put on the bag.  I went straight to Pinterest and typed in notebook paper.  These images come from Pinterest.  I put the link that the Pinterest picture had.  That link may also lead you somewhere else.  Just trying to give credit where credit is due.  Enjoy!
