Couples baby shower

{First off, I apologize for the bad photography. I have an old digital camera that is on it's last leg.}

Anyway, a friend of mine hosted a couples baby shower for some friends of ours on Saturday. They already know it's a GIRL, so, we had fun decorating.
Part of my gift was the onesies. We hung them from ribbon with some clothespins adorned with some cute cut outs. I actually used a 1" and 2" circle punch and flower was cut from my Cricut. I think they turned out really cute! {I need to think of another word besides cute! HA!}

There was a questionnaire about the parents. We also chipped in $5 ea. for a pool. We had to guess when we think the baby will be due, the time and the weight.

My friend made this diaper cake. Adorable!

The parents as babies!
These balloons were later a game. Inside was a piece of paper for charades. I got "getting a baby dressed".

Addison is the name they picked out. I made the banner on my Cricut.

All the men participated in a beer drinking game from a baby bottle.

We also cut this streamer to how big we thought the mommy's tummy was. The dad was right on.

Dipped marshmallows in pink, white chocolate with pink sanding sugar.

Red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Cupcake toppers made with my Cricut. There were little gems on top of the crown and in the middle of the flowers.
A fun time was had by all! Congrats to Lisa & Chad!

The grass, it is a sproutin'

Here it is, our lovely green grass! At first, I didn't put in enough seeds, so that all sprouted and then I realized it needed more. So, I just dumped the whole packet in the pots. And this is what we got. This will definitely be great in the Spring time when you are soooo sick of the winter months. In the meantime, it's a nice touch of fresh green to our kitchen counter.

New hardware = cheap & easy fix

We have an old house and the kitchen has a lot of wood in it. We don't mind it and we always get compliments on it-I think cause it fits the house, or they are lying, tee-hee. Anyway, I can't believe that it took me this long to do this.

I got some new hardware at Target. A pack of 4 for $8.99. It is the oil rubbed bronze look. The old is on the right and the new is on the left. A much needed change!

Our small kitchen is a work in progress. Now, I just want to get rid of this...............
darn ugly floor!

Flip flops

Not the best picture of these, but, here are the flips flops finally finished. I have to admit, my mom finished them off for me. They are now really dirty (she wore them to the beach) and some of the pieces are coming loose.

Xanadu part II - am I really that old?

Ok, I have not watched Xanadu yet like I said I was going to do. I actually don't even own the DVD. I thought I could easily buy it somewhere. I was at a Target a couple weeks ago and I thought I'd check there. I figured they wouldn't have it, but, just thought I'd check. Nope, they didn't have it. So, I figured Best Buy has to have it. So, I was in a Target today and this time I thought I'd ask the guy working there. He's like, 'how do you spell that..Z..' I said X-a-n-a-d-u. He obviously has never heard of it and I didn't feel like getting into it with him. They didn't have it. Across the street was Best Buy, so I ran in there and asked the young guy working there if they had Xanadu and he said, I'll check. He took 2 steps and turned back around and said, 'I don't know what that is'. I laughed! He hadn't heard of it either. I said to him, it's a rollerskating movie with Olivia Newton-John circa 1980. You probably aren't old enough to know. They didn't have it. Guess I have to buy it online. I had my good laugh for the day!

Xanadu

It is the 30th anniversary of the movie Xanadu. I loved that movie as a kid! Who wanted to be Olivia Newton John? I know I did! I loved the rollerskating and all the songs in the movie. So, in honor of the movie, I may just bake some cupcakes or some cookies for the occasion and pop in the movie late at night when everyone is in bed and sing along out loud. My kids are too young for the movie and I don't think my husband really wants to watch it. I'll ask though. ;)
Enjoy...

Hot rocks

I was pretty excited to try this fun idea! I had it saved in the archives for awhile. Thank God we went to the beach this summer, where I was able to collect some awesome rocks! BIG and flat! There are really no rocks around our house.
First, you put your rocks on a lined cookie sheet and put them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Warning: they stay super hot for a long time after they come out of the oven. I used a pot holder to handle mine.

Have some crayons available without the label on them. Tip: soak them in a bowl of water for 10 minutes or so and they should peel right off.

I only collected 1 bucket of rocks, now I am kicking myself for not getting 2 buckets of rocks. Oh well.
You start coloring and making designs on the rock and the crayon just melts away and leaves a glossy shine! It feels really cool when doing this too.

The glitter crayons were really awesome for this!

I think I got more into this than my kids did. I would of loved to do this on a big paver or something.
We didn't use all of our rocks, I decided to save some just in case.

Who am I?

My daughter and I were feeling under the weather today, so we needed something to cheer us up. I remembered this FREE printable and thought it would be fun for the girls. We had to think of some new names for our disguise. "Sweets" loves sweets-seriously and NUKie loves her NUK...still!

Heart this one!
