Growing grass

We decided to grow some pretty green grass. I had seen this idea in the Spring time and thought it was a cute idea. I am now just getting around to it.

Painting their flower pots first.

They didn't get the concept that you don't really have to paint the inside since you wouldn't see it. But, that is ok.

Yes, you are seeing correctly. It is grass for cats. I went to my local gardening store to find wheatgrass with no such luck but this is what I found instead. I think it will do the job. Oats? Wheat? Same thing?

Now, just keep the soil moist and we will see what happens. Remember, I don't have a green thumb!

Tie dye

One of the things to do on our summer fun list was to tie dye a t-shirt. We got the t-shirts, rubber bands and the Rit dye. I put the dye in spray bottles. Although, the last time I remember doing tie dye, I was in elementary school (which was AGES ago) and I remember using a bucket.

The skinny one, I folded the t-shirt accordian style. I guess I wasn't really thinking that when I was squirting the shirt, that I shouldn't have gotten the dye into the folds-just the outside. I didn't figure that out till I was almost done. As you can see in the picture below, the orange with the white stripes is the way it's supposed to be. Not the solid colors.

This one, I just bunched some of the t-shirt to make the cirlces. That didn't work to well either.
I guess I envisioned something way better. As I always say, live and learn. They will make nice night shirts for the kids.

Flip flops

Making my one daughter these flip flops. This is the color flip flop she picked out and then we got some fabric at Walmart. Been working on them, they are time consuming. Finished product coming soon...

Ballerina cupcakes

Today, this little one turned 3! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Her birthday happened to fall on her ballet/tap class day, so, I decided to make a treat for her to pass out to all the other little girls.

I found this darling idea here.

I put each cupcake in a clear, plastic cup and then put that into a clear party favor bag. I wanted the little girls to be able to take them home easily.

HAHAHA! Here is a back side view of the tutu toppers. I didn't make a skirt to go on the back. I'm lazy, what can I say. I also sealed the bag with some candle stickers that I had on hand.

I think I would spend more time doing these the right way if I was using them for a party or some event. I don't think the 3 year olds minded though.

We all scream for homemade ice cream

I bought this ice cream maker ball because you can make it literally anywhere. No need for electricity. I got the MEGA ball which makes a quart.

All you need is cream, sugar and vanilla for the ice cream and then ice cubes and rock salt to make it cold.

We rolled it around the living room floor for 15 minutes and then opened it to scrape the sides which were already hard with ice cream, but, the middle is still very soft at this point. So, we rolled again for another 15. I used half & half and probably needed to roll the ball longer.

It was really soft serve ice cream. I would of liked it a little harder, but, the taste was fantastic!

We each had our own little glass and we even saved some for dad!
Next time, can't wait to add some cookies or candy inside-YUM!
Here is a link to the product.

Red, white & blue strawberries

I originally saw this idea over at Cupcake Rehab, then right after that, I started seeing it on lots of other blogs. They are pretty looking, but, I didn't really like the white chocolate/strawberry combo. I prefer the chocolate wayyyyy better! Plus, you can kinda see they are blobby (is that a word?) on the ends. All in all, still fun and creative!

Happy 4th of July

I think this is a first that I didn't bake cupcakes for a holiday! GASP! I had some marshmallows and decided to dip them in dark chocolate and add some sprinkles. This was actually my first time doing this. They were yummy! I threw in a few pink strawberry marshmallows too.

Trying to make a nice presentation with my cupcake liners that didn't get used.

I also made this banner to hang outside, courtesy of Moo Moo's & Tutus.

I cut the star from my Cricut and then glued the printables them.

P.S. I'll be using her blank fancy labels for my Circus party.
