Hot rocks

I was pretty excited to try this fun idea! I had it saved in the archives for awhile. Thank God we went to the beach this summer, where I was able to collect some awesome rocks! BIG and flat! There are really no rocks around our house.
First, you put your rocks on a lined cookie sheet and put them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Warning: they stay super hot for a long time after they come out of the oven. I used a pot holder to handle mine.

Have some crayons available without the label on them. Tip: soak them in a bowl of water for 10 minutes or so and they should peel right off.

I only collected 1 bucket of rocks, now I am kicking myself for not getting 2 buckets of rocks. Oh well.
You start coloring and making designs on the rock and the crayon just melts away and leaves a glossy shine! It feels really cool when doing this too.

The glitter crayons were really awesome for this!

I think I got more into this than my kids did. I would of loved to do this on a big paver or something.
We didn't use all of our rocks, I decided to save some just in case.
