Decorating space needed

One thing I don't have in my house is decorating space.  I have no shelves, bookcases, tv stands, etc. to decorate on or put little knick knacks on.  I have lived with it for 6 years but, it is driving me crazy now.  I have one curio cabinet in the corner that holds frames, but, that is so old now.  I think I'm getting rid of that.  In fact, I am getting rid of it.  The picture above inspired me.  Beautiful!  What do ya think?  The shelves of course.  The decorating is nice too.

Subway Art

Subway Art is all the rage in blogland.  I see it everywhere.  Isn't it beautiful!

Well..... here is my super duper, easy, kid friendly way to do subway art.  I spent $2 on this.  I already had the flat canvas and black paint.  I had gotten the stickers in the dollar section at Target awhile ago and was just going to let the kids stick them on paper.  Then, I started seeing this subway art everywhere.  I thought, I can use these word stickers for this.  I painted my canvas black, helped put the stickers on a little straight and then mod podged it.  I bought the ribbon for $1.

I think it turned out pretty darned good.  We actually have it hanging in our kitchen now.  Something you can save and use for next year.

Coming soon, I promise...

I have been very lazy on posting my daughters Circus party that happened a month ago. I didn't get a lot of pictures because I was busy running the circus.  haha  My MIL got a lot and then I had to scan her pictures and then organize everything.  It will be coming very soon!  Thanks for your patience!

Back to School pencil shaped cake

Both my girls had their 1st day of school this week, so, I decided to make them a special treat!  I'm sure this idea is out there somewhere in magazines or blogs, but, I have had this book forever that everything is made from a cake mix.  This pencil was in the book.  I knew someday I would want to make it.  The pan I have is kinda warped in the middle which makes the cake rise higher in the middle instead of it being level.  So, when I cut the cake and put the ends together, there was a dip in the middle of the pencil.  My loving husband pointed that out to me right away.  Thanks hon!  My daughter is in 4K not 4X.  I know, I know, that is what it looks like.  Oops!  Plus, we had a little glitch with my youngest as you can see in the one picture.  Not a happy camper, but, a little persuading, ok, begging and she was fine.

Cupcake shop

One of the things on our "Summer to do List" was to visit a cupcake shop.

It is a cute, little quaint place with a few tables to sit and enjoy your cupcake.  I was lovin' the polka dot plates!

They didn't have the flavor that I wanted the day we went.  Red Velvet was just as good!

Oreo piggies

I was looking thru Country Woman magazine about a week ago (sorry no link).  I came upon this and thought how easy and cute.  I literally spent about 5-10 minutes on these, so that is why they aren't the best.  I actually had all the ingredients on hand except the large marshmallows.  I only had the mini's and had to squish 2 of them together for the nose.  They were delish though!

Directions:  You take an Oreo, twist it apart, dunk your popsicle stick into your melted chocolate and stick onto the Oreo and put the cookie back together.  You do have to wait awhile for it to harden.  I didn't wait long enough for the first one and as I was dunking, it came apart.  For the eyes, use mini chocolate chips and for the nostrils I used M&M's.  You could probably use the mini's for the nose too.  I just cut the mini marshmallow in 1/2 for the ears on a diagonal.

Sweet clothes

No, this is not an adorable, handmade dress from an Etsy shop.  This adorable dress is from your local Kohl's store.  We were in looking for jeans for school and we stumbled upon this.  I couldn't resist.  The cupcakes and the pink polka-dot bows are too cute!

TV show

I love all these cupcake shows that are on TV! This one I especially like. Even my husband seems to like it. Strange huh? There is one show that I just could not get into and that is Cupcake Wars. Not sure what it is about it, but, I find it rather blah! My other fave cupcake show is DC Cupcakes.

Blog name change...

I am going to be changing the name of my blog. I have never liked the name Mommy's cReAtIvE Mind, I just came up with something quick when I started blogging. In fact, it is very uncreative I think. I am toying with a new name as we speak and am waiting for my talented Graphic Designer friend to come up with a new blog logo for me. I don't have many followers, so, I don't think this will be a big deal. Bear with me folks. Thanks!
